thinking about getting a prebuilt 5inch, worth it or just build my own at this point

so ive been flying a toothpick for about a year now and want to step up to a full 5inch freestyle setup. problem is every time i sit down to build one i get analysis paralysis with all the part choices and honestly my soldering isnt great. been looking at the diatone Roma F5 and the iflight chimera7 but also the zealot from flywoo keeps coming up in recommendations.

main thing im gonna use it for is freestyle, maybe some light cinematic stuff with a naked gopro. not doing racing. budget is around 300-350 shipped. is it even worth going prebuilt at this point or am i gonna spend just as much time fighting someone elses build decisions when i try to tune it. like will the pids be anywhere close to usable out of the box or am i starting from scratch anyway

honestly the iflight stuff comes pretty well tuned for a prebuilt, at least the nazgul series did when i got one a couple years back. the chimera is a bit different form factor obviously but the betaflight defaults they ship with arent terrible. youll still want to go through and set your rates and probably bump the d term filters a bit depending on your motors but its not like starting from zero.

the Roma F5 is decent too but diatone has had some qc inconsistencies, mine came with a loose motor screw and a vtx that was set to the wrong output and i had to dig around in the cli to sort it. not a dealbreaker but something to be aware of. for freestyle id probably lean chimera or look at the flywoo explorer if you can catch it on sale.

i went prebuilt for my first 5inch and dont regret it, got a nazgul evoque and it flew pretty good right away. only thing i changed early on was the props cause the stock ones felt a bit soft to me. if your soldering isnt confident yet prebuilt makes a lot of sense tbh, you can always learn the building side later once you know what the quad is supposed to feel like in the air
