ok so this might be a dumb question but ive been going back and forth on this for a while. i do a lot of real estate and some landscape work and honestly the stock sensor on my Mavic 3 is fine but ive been shooting with a Micro Four Thirds setup on the ground and the difference in low light and dynamic range is just kind of depressing when i compare them side by side. so naturally my brain went to ? what if i just put a better camera up there.

i know the Mavic wasnt designed for payload swaps obviously, thats not what im suggesting. more like moving to a platform that can carry something like a Sony a7 series body with a light prime. ive been looking at the Freefly Alta X mostly but the cost jump is pretty significant and im trying to figure out if the image quality difference in actual deliverables is something clients would even notice or if im just being a pixel peeper. anyone made this kind of jump and regretted it or not?

honestly for real estate probably not worth it unless your doing super high end architectural stuff where the client is also hiring a ground crew and has a big enough budget that they care. most real estate clients genuinely cannot tell the difference on an MLS listing or even a promo video. ive shot the same property on a Mavic 3 and on a full frame rig and when i showed both to the realtor she picked the Mavic footage as her favorite because the color grading happened to be slightly warmer. kind of crushed me a little but also kind of freed me from obsessing over it.

landscape is different though if youre printing large or selling as art then yeah the sensor size difference becomes real pretty fast especially at dusk or dawn.

the Alta X is a beast but the operatonal overhead is significant ? you're basically running a small production when you fly it, its not a grab and go situation at all. if image quality is the main driver have you looked at the Autel EVO II Pro or even waiting to see what comes out of DJI in the next cycle? the Zenmuse X9 footage ive seen looks pretty rediculous for an integrated system and you dont have to deal with third party gimbal headaches
