switched from DJI to Autel and kinda regretting it, anyone else

so this is going to sound like a rant and i guess it partly is. i had a mavic 3 classic for about a year and a half, loved it, sold it because i got paranoid about the whole DJI ban situation in the US and figured i'd get ahead of it and try the Autel EVO Lite+ which was sitting at a pretty good discount.

the image quality is honestly fine, no real complaints there. but everything else about the experience compared to DJI just feels... rougher? the app crashes on me more than the DJI fly app ever did, the RC feels cheaper even though the specs are similar on paper, and ActiveTrack vs Autel's equivalent tracking is not even close in my experience. DJI's just smoother and more reliable.

i dunno maybe i got spoiled. has anyone made this switch and actually been happy with it long term? or is the grass just always greener. also curious if the evo nano+ is any different experience wise, my buddy keeps saying that one is better but im skeptical

yeah the app stability thing with Autel has been a known issue for a while, they've improved it but it's still not on DJI's level for polish. i think DJI just has so many more resources going into the software side that it's kind of an unfair comparison in some ways. the hardware on the Autel stuff is genuinely competitive but the ecosystem just isnt there yet

as for the ban stuff honestly nobody really knows how that's going to shake out. could be nothing, could be real, but i wouldnt have sold a perfectly good mavic 3 classic over it personally. that camera is excellent

I made basically the opposite switch ? had an Autel EVO II for a couple years and moved to DJI last year. Night and day in terms of how smooth everything just works together. The EVO II was a tank and the image was great but god the software headaches. I think Autel builds decent drones they just cant seem to get the software experience to match and for a lot of people that ends up mattering more than raw specs once you're actually out in the field trying to get a shot before the light changes.
