DJI Neo actually worth it or just hype at this point

ok so the DJI Neo has been out for a little while now and im starting to see some real world footage from it rather than just the launch day videos. honestly my reaction is kind of mixed. for the price point its obviously appealing and the whole no-controller thing is a cool party trick but like... the image quality in anything less than perfect light is pretty underwhelming from what ive seen. and the wind resistance is basically nonexistent.

im not trying to trash it, i think for someone who literally just wants a beginner selfie drone to mess around with it probably makes sense. but i keep seeing people in other forums hyping it like its some revolutionary thing and i dont quite get that. the market is getting really interesting though, feels like every couple months theres a new entry level release from someone. Autel has been quietly doing their thing too and i feel like they dont get enough attention.

anyone actually bought one? curious what the real day to day experience is like not just the honeymoon period review stuff

I picked one up about three weeks ago mostly out of curiosity and honestly it's grown on me more than I expected. You're right that the stabilization struggles in any real wind, I took it out on a mildly gusty afternoon and the footage was pretty much unusable. But on a calm day it's genuinely fun to just toss in a jacket pocket and have along. The follow me modes work better than I thought they would without a controller.

I wouldnt replace my Air 3 with it obviously but as a secondary grab-and-go thing it fills a weird niche. Image quality complaint is totally fair though, low light is rough.

the autel comment is spot on, feels like they always release something solid and then nobody talks about it for more than a week. their customer support is supposedly way better than DJI too based on stuff ive read, though ive never had to test that myself thankfully
