prebuilt keeps drifting on rolls ? is this a tune issue or something with the FC

picked up one of those iflight has a prebuilt 3.5" i think its the baby nazgul or something close to it, been flying it for about two weeks and its doing this thing where on fast rolls it sort of drifts at the end of the maneuver instead of snapping back level. hard to describe but it feels like its not quite finishing the move, just sort of bleeds off into a slightly wrong attitude and i have to correct it.

running betaflight 4.4, havent touched the pids from stock because im still trying to figure out what im doing with the tune. motors seem fine, props are balanced as far as i can tell. no oscillations that i can see just this sluggish recovery thing after rolls. could be i-term? could be something in the filtering? genuinely not sure where to start and i dont want to just start cranking knobs and make it worse.

that sounds like classic i-term windup to me. when youre doing a fast roll the integrator accumulates error during the rotation and then overshoots or in your case undershoots recovery. look at iterm_relax in betaflight, it should already be on by default in 4.4 but check what the cutoff is set to. a lot of prebuilts ship with pretty conservative iterm_relax values that work okay for slow flying but feel mushy in actual freestyle.

also worth pulling a blackbox log if you can and just looking at what the gyro trace looks like after a roll ? if you see a slow return to zero rather than a sharp snap thats almost certainly your i gains being too high or iterm_relax not doing its job properly. id start there before touching anything else honestly.

had something similar on my prebuilt a while back and it turned out one of my props had a tiny crack i couldnt see. not saying thats your problem but worth pulling them all off and checking before you go deep on the tune. wasted like two hours adjusting pids before i noticed it lol
