Mavic Air 2 keeps losing signal way sooner than it should?? something feels off

so this has been bugging me for a while and im not sure if its a settings thing or what. basically im getting signal warnings and sometimes disconnect at distances that seem way too short ? like sometimes under 500 meters in open areas with nothing obviously in the way. i know the advertised range is kind of a best case scenario marketing number but this feels worse than it used to be. nothing changed on my end that i can think of, same flying spots, same phone.

i did update the firmware a couple months back and i feel like maybe thats when it started getting worse but i genuinely cant be sure if im just imagining it or if something actually changed. also been flying near a city more lately which i know has interference but even on quieter days its not great.

anyone else had this happen or have any idea what to look for? i checked the antennas on the controller and they look fine to me but i dont really know what im looking for there if im honest.

check your wifi channel interference first ? in the DJI Fly app under transmission settings there should be an option to switch between 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz, a lot of people dont realize you can toggle that manually. in busy areas 5.8 usually cuts through the noise better even though it has slightly less range in theory. also double check that your phone bluetooth isnt on while flying, theres a known thing where bluetooth running in the background causes interference with the controller connection. sounds dumb but ive seen it cause exactly the kind of random signal drops you're describing.

had something similar and for me it turned out to be my phone case of all things. had a wallet case with some kind of metal plate in it and apparently that was affecting the signal coming off the phone antenna which matters more than people think for the OcuSync connection on that controller. swapped to a thin case and it got better. might not be your issue but worth rulng out the easy stuff first before going down the firmware rabbit hole
