litchi vs dronelink for waypoint missions ? anyone actually used both?

  • Members

so ive been using litchi for a while now mostly for waypoint stuff on my mini 3 pro and its been fine but i keep hearing people mention dronelink and honestly the interface looks way more capable, or at least thats the impression i get from youtube. problem is im not paying for another subscription without knowing if its actually worth it for the kind of flying i do which is mostly mapping small agricultural plots, nothing crazy.

the thing that bugs me about litchi is the curve/poi stuff is a bit clunky when youre trying to do tight passes and i always feel like im fighting the app rather than planning the mission. does dronelink handle that better or is it a similar situation. also wondering how the offline map handling compares because sometimes im out in areas with basically no signal at all.

used both pretty extensively, dronelink is genuinely better for complex missions imo but theres a learning curve that litchi doesnt have. litchi you can kind of just figure out by clicking around, dronelink took me like a solid weekend before i felt comfortable with the mission structure. for agricultural mapping though dronelink has actual ground sampling distance calculators built in which is huge if youre doing anything photogrammetry related.

offline maps are better in dronelink too, you can preload tiles and it actually remembers them. litchi has had issues with that on and off depending on the version. one thing though ? controller compatibility can be hit or miss depending on which RC you're running, had some weirdness with dronelink on the RC-N1 that i never had with litchi.

dronelink is what i use and honestly cant imagine going back. but fair warning the free tier is pretty limited so youre probably gonna end up paying anyway if you want the mission features that actually matter. i think its like $15/month or something? not sure what litchis pricing is these days.
