lost connection during a fairly normal flight today, kind of freaked me out

okay so this hasnt happened to me before and im still a little rattled. was flying my Air 3 maybe 400 meters out, not even that far, perfectly clear day, no obvious interference around. signal just dropped for maybe 8 seconds and the drone went into RTH on its own which i know is what its supposed to do but it still scared me because it was flying back over some trees and i wasnt sure it had the clearance set right.

it came back fine and landed basically where i took off from but now im second guessing everything. i had the RC-N2 controller. i feel like ive read that 2.4ghz can sometimes get weird in certain areas but i genuinely dont know what caused it. nothing changed on my end mid flight that i noticed. anyone dealt with something similar

RTH kicking in like that is honestly the system working exactly as designed, i know it doesnt feel that way when its happening though. the 8 second dropout thing ? do you remember if there were any other people around with wifi equipment, or were you near any kind of industrial building? ive had dropouts in spots that seem totally clear and then realized there was some kind of repeater tower or even a neighbors mesh wifi node that just absolutely hammers 2.4ghz.

one thing worth doing is checking your RTH altitude in settings before every flight, especially if youre flying anywhere with trees or structures. i set mine way higher than i probably need to because of exactly this kind of scenario. also make sure your home point refreshed properly after takeoff ? sometimes if you move around before locking it in the RTH lands somewhere weird.

yeah the RC-N2 uses your phone too right so like if your phone got a notification or something running in the background tried to grab bandwidth mid flight that can do it sometimes. i always put mine in airplane mode and then turn wifi back on just for the controller connection. probably not your issue but worth trying next time
