so ive had the Mini 4 Pro since last spring and figured id finally write up something more than just a quick take since most reviews ive seen are either from launch week or clearly sponsored. quick background im not a professional, i just fly on weekends mostly parks and some coastal stuff, had a Mini 2 before this.
the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance is genuinely good, way better than i expected coming from the Mini 2 which had basically nothing. had a few close calls near tree branches and it just... stopped. not always gracefully but it stopped. the image quality is a clear step up too, the log profiles give you a lot more to work with in editing even if youre just doing casual stuff.
where it gets annoying ? the battery life is fine on paper but in cold weather it just tanks. flew in like 55?F last october and was getting maybe 25 minutes realistically. also the RC2 controller is great until it isnt, had some random signal warnings that i couldnt explain. nothing crashed but it made me nervous a few times.
anyway for the price point its hard to argue with if you want something sub-250g with actual safety features. but id say dont buy it if you already have a Mini 3 Pro, the upgrade just isnt there unless the omnidirectional avoidance matters to you specifically. curious if anyone else has had the signal thing with the RC2 or if it was just me.
