keeps losing signal near the lake ? Air 3 thing or just me doing something wrong

this has been bugging me for a while and i finally decided to just ask. every time i fly out over the water at this one spot the signal gets choppy around 400-500m out. same thing doesnt really happen when im flying over fields or in the hills near my house. im on RC2 controller and running the latest firmware as of like 2 weeks ago.

someone mentioned water causes weird interference but i dont really understand why that would be. its not like theres anything in the water blocking signal. the drone doesnt RTH or anything it just gets laggy on the feed and i get a couple weak signal warnings. a bit unnerving honestly when youre over a lake

water actually does mess with signal more than people expect, something about how the surface reflects radio waves and causes multipath interference i think. i had similar issues flying over a reservoir. a few things that helped me ? make sure you keep the controller antennas pointed toward the drone (the flat face toward it not the edge), and try to keep some altitude, like flying at 80-100m instead of skimming low over the water made a noticeable difference for me. also check if theres any wifi heavy areas nearby, sometimes its not the water at all

yeah the lake thing is real, not just you. i lost connection completely once over a pretty big open lake which was terrifying, it did RTH fine but still. one thing i'd try is enabling the 2.4ghz band manually instead of letting it auto-switch, sometimes the auto mode does weird things in open areas near water. also are you keeping the controller high or is it down by your waist? makes more of a difference than youd think
