ok so ive been flying whoops for like 8 months and finally decided to just build a proper 5inch freestyle quad. got a Nazgul frame sitting here and a stack i grabbed during a sale (Mamba F722 with the 45A ESCs). the motors i want to run are 2306 2450kv and im getting confused reading stuff online about whether these ESCs are going to be fine or if ill fry something.

everything i read either says 45A is overkill for 2306s or that you always want headroom so its fine. like i genuinely cant find a clear answer. also is there anything specific i should know about soldering the motor leads to the ESC on this stack? its a 4in1 and i havent done much soldering beyond battery leads on tiny whoops.

sorry if this is a dumb question im just trying not to blow everything up on the first bind

45A on 2306s is completely fine, you're not going to fry anything running those motors under normal freestyle flying. the ESC rating is a ceiling not a target, so having headroom is always better. people who say its overkill are technically right but it doesnt matter, it'll just run cooler.

for soldering the motor wires to a 4in1 ? tin your pads first before you do anything else, and tin the wire ends too. let everything cool between joints, the pads on budget stacks can lift if you sit on them too long with the iron. if you have a decent iron set it around 350-360C and it should flow fast enough that you're not cooking the board. phase order doesn't matter for initial soldering since you can reverse motor direction in BF configurator anyway.

yeah what he said about tinning first is real, i skipped that step on my first 4in1 and one of the pads peeled right off. had to run a bodge wire which was a nightmare. also the Mamba boards can be a bit fiddly with the UART setup when you go to plug in your VTX so just be ready for that rabbit hole when you get there lol
