Building my first 5" freestyle quad and torn between frame geometries. X-geometry frames push the front motors forward enough that you can see them in the FPV camera, which bothers pilots recording with DJI O3 or O4. Deadcat style pushes the front motors back, which makes the arms un-symmetrical and can result in some coupling between yaw and roll axis. Planning to record cinematic footage - is the slight handling compromise worth avoiding props in the frame? Should make sure to buy the version that matches the goggles I own. Currently using DJI FPV goggles and want clean HD footage.

For cinematic work, definitely go deadcat. iFlight offers the DJI air units only with the DC frames, on the assumption that you don't want to ruin your beautiful HD footage with props in view. The handling difference is minimal unless you're doing aggressive freestyle moves.

I noticed the coupling between yaw and roll on my deadcat build, especially during snap rolls. Many pilots won't notice a difference, especially if you're not doing fast, snappy freestyle moves. For smooth cinematic shots it's barely noticeable.

X-geometry frames will have the arms in a symmetrical X shape producing a square motor layout that gives the most neutral handling for acro moves. If you plan to progress into freestyle, consider starting with true-X and learning to live with props in frame.
