been flying for about 3 years now and ive never actually gone to one of these group fly-in things. always seems like by the time i hear about them theyre already over or too far away. trying to get ahead of it this year. mostly fly 5inch freestyle but i dont care what kind of event it is honestly just want to meet some people who actually fly instead of just talking about it online

there was a pretty decent one in georgia last september, think it was put together by a local club not any big org. someone posted about it on facebook like two weeks before which is barely enough time to plan anything. your best bet is honestly just finding regional facebook groups and turning notifications on because thats where most of the last minute stuff gets announced. MultiGP also lists sanctioned races if youre into that kind of thing but the casual fly-ins are harder to track down

went to my first one last fall and honestly wasnt sure what to expect but it was great. just a field, maybe 15 people, someone brought a canopy and a generator. nobody cared what you were flying. definitely worth going even if its a bit of a drive
