mini 4 pro firmware update bricked my obstacle avoidance or am i doing something wrong

  • Members

updated to the latest firmware yesterday and now APAS just feels completely different. like it used to flow around stuff pretty smoothly and now it either stops dead or does this weird aggressive reroute that takes it way off course. flying in a wooded area today and it was almost unusable compared to before

checked the settings and everything looks the same as before, APAS is set to bypass not brake, sensitivity hasnt changed. did the refresh on DJI fly app too just in case. not sure if this is a known thing with this update or if something is actually messed up with my unit

anyone else on.0700 or whatever the recent one is noticing this? kind of annoyed because i had a paid shoot tomorrow and now im second guessing everything

yeah there were a few people on the facebook group reporting similar behavior after that update, something about the obstacle sensing being recalibrated or the algorithm tweaked. DJI doesnt really document what actually changes in these updates which is endlessly frustrating

one thing worth trying is doing a full IMU and compass calibration after a firmware update, i know it sounds like placebo stuff but ive genuinely had sensor behavior feel off after updates and calibrating sorted it. also make sure the vision sensors arent dirty, sounds obvious but worth ruling out

for your shoot tomorrow id honestly just fly conservatively and maybe scout the area without APAS on first so you know whats there. if its a situation where you were relying on APAS to do the heavy lifting in tight spaces might be worth flagging to the client just in case

i rolled back my mini 4 pro once using the DJI assistant 2 downgrade method and it worked fine, theres a thread somewhere on here about it. not saying thats the move for you but its an option if the update is genuinely breaking things for paid work. personally i wait like two weeks after any DJI firmware drops before touching it for exactly this reason
