been flying my drone for maybe 3 weeks now, got a pretty cheap one to start, think its an eachine or something like that. im okay at going forward and hovering but the moment i try to do any kind of turn or fly it back toward me i get completely lost on the controls. like left and right flip when the drone is facing me and my brain cant handle it. is this just something that takes time or is there some trick people use to get over it. feels like im not improving anymore and starting to wonder if i need a different drone or a simulator or what

the orientation thing is genuinely the hardest part for most people and yeah it just takes time, theres no real shortcut. what helped me was picking a fixed point on the ground and doing slow figure eights around it over and over until it clicked. also some people tape a bright color on the front of the drone so you can always tell which way its pointing from a distance, sounds silly but it works.

the simulator idea isnt bad either, Liftoff and Velocidrone are the popular ones but those are more for freestyle stuff. for just learning basic orientation any cheap sim will do. honestly though with a beginner drone i'd just keep flying it and accept youre gonna crash a few times, thats kind of the point of starting cheap.

took me probably 2 months before i stopped having to think about it, and im still not great if im being honest. the head-in vs tail-in thing just requires a lot of repetitions. dont switch drones yet, you'll reset your progress basically
