so ive been flying freestyle for about two years and finally signed up for a local race next month. the venue is an outdoor field and the organizer just sent over the course layout and honestly it looks way tighter than anything ive been flying through. gates are like 6-7 feet wide and some of the rhythm sections have maybe 30 feet between them which is way less than what i normally cruise through in the park.
my current setup is a 5inch running 2306 motors at 2450kv with a 45a esc stack, rates are pretty high because freestyle, and i feel really comfortable with it but i have no idea if i should be retuning specifically for race flying or just leave it and adapt. also my cam angle is sitting at like 25 degrees and i keep reading that race pilots run way steeper but i dont want to change too much before the event and mess up my muscle memory.
anyone gone through this transition? like what actually matters to dial in before you show up to a first event vs what can you just wing
