so ive been building out a small indoor track in my warehouse space, about 40x60 feet, and ive been going back and forth on gate spacing forever. right now i have 8 gates set up and the rhythm feels off, like theres either too much open space where you just pin throttle and do nothing interesting or the gates are so close together you cant really set up for the next one properly.

been watching a lot of the MultiGP regional stuff on youtube trying to reverse engineer what makes a good technical section vs a flow section but honestly its hard to tell from camera angles. my current layout has a chicane near the back wall that i thought would be cool but every time i fly it i just feel like im fighting the track instead of flying it. does anyone have like a rough rule of thumb for gate spacing relative to the size of the space or is it really just trial and error every time

trial and error mostly, but theres some stuff that helps. the chicane thing is a real trap, ive built a bunch of tracks and anytime i put in a tight chicane just because it looks cool on paper it almost always feels terrible to fly. the issue is usually the entry angle ? if you cant set up with at least like 2-3 gate widths of straight before it, youre just asking pilots to brake and punch which gets old fast.

for your space id honestly just pick one section at a time, fly it 20 laps, move one gate, fly 20 more. sounds tedious but you start to feel really quickly what works. also flying it in reverse is a weirdly good diagnostic tool, bad track design usually feels even worse in reverse and that helps you identify which sections are the problem.

whats your gate size, like are these full size 1.5m gates or something smaller? that changes everything for spacing in a 40x60 space. ive been doing indoor stuff with smaller gates and even like 15 feet between them feels totally different than it would outdoors with big gates at the same distance
