So ive had my Mini 3 Pro for about a year and a half now and honestly I love it, no real complaints. But I keep seeing people talk about the Mini 4 Pro like its a completely different drone and I cant figure out if thats true or just hype.

The main things I shoot are landscape stuff and occasional family videos, nothing super serious. I dont really need 10-bit D-Log M or whatever, I just want good footage that looks nice without a ton of editing. Does the obstacle avoidance actually work better on the 4 Pro because that was kind of hit or miss on mine in certain lighting conditions. And is the battery life noticeably different in real world flying or just on paper.

Not trying to spend $800 if the difference is marginal, but if its genuinely better in ways I'd actually notice then maybe. Anyone made the switch?

Honestly made exactly that switch about four months ago and my take is... it depends on how much the obstacle avoidance stuff actually matters to you. The APAS on the 4 Pro is genuinely better, like noticeably so when you're flying in tighter spaces with trees and stuff. I was always a bit nervous with the 3 Pro in wooded areas and the 4 Pro handles it way more confidently.

But if you're mostly doing wide open landscape shots? You'd probably barely notice a difference in the final footage. The image quality bump is real but subtle, not a night and day thing. Battery life in real conditions is maybe 5-7 minutes more for me which sounds small but actually adds up when you're trying to nail a shot before golden hour ends. If your 3 Pro is working fine I'd honestly wait and see what comes next before jumping on the 4 Pro now.

i went from mini 3 to the 4 pro and the thing i noticed most was actually the ActiveTrack, it just locks on way better. for landscape stuff though yeah probably not a huge deal. the d-log m footage does grade really nicely if you ever get into that but totally fair if you dont care about it
