so ive been flying recreationally for about 2 years now and finally decided to just go for it and get my part 107. signed up for the test at my local testing center for next month. i bought one of those study courses online but honestly im not sure how much of it i actually need to know vs what they actually ask on the test. like the airspace stuff i get, but some of the weather and loading charts stuff is really tripping me up. anyone whos taken it recently have a sense of how hard it actually is? i feel like some of the practice questions i find online are way harder than others and idk which ones are close to the real thing.

the weather stuff is honestly not as bad as it looks once it clicks. took mine about 8 months ago. the biggest thing that actually helped me was just doing the FAA practice questions over and over, not the random third party ones, the actual ones on the FAA website. a lot of the test is reading airspace charts and knowing what the different lines and numbers mean so if you can nail that youre probably most of the way there. the load factor and performance charts did show up for me but it was like 2-3 questions not a whole section. dont stress too much, the test isnt trying to trick you it just wants to know you know the basics.

i passed mine last spring and honestly i way overstudied lol. spent like 6 weeks going deep on everything and the actual test felt pretty straightforward. the sectional chart reading is definitely the thing to focus on, like know your class bravo charlie delta echo and the altitudes associated with each. weather was on there but nothing too crazy. i used Pilot Institute and thought it was worth it but honestly youtube probably covers most of the same stuff for free if you dont want to spend the money on a course.
