so i went out last tuesday evening and the light was just insane, one of those skies where everything turns orange and purple at the same time. took the mini 4 pro out and just started shooting, wasnt really planning anything just kinda followed the light wherever it went along the shoreline.

ended up with maybe 3 clips i actually like out of like 40 minutes of footage. the one where the camera slowly tilts up from the water reflection to the actual sky came out way better than i expected. color grading took me forever though, i kept pushing the oranges too hard and it looked fake.

ill try to get a link up later if anyone wants to see. just wondering if other people find sunset stuff harder to grade or is it just me being bad at it lol

sunset and golden hour stuff is genuinely harder to grade imo because your eye already knows what it should look like and any little shift feels wrong. i usually just pull back way more than i think i need to and leave more of the original log colors in there. less is more with that kind of footage honestly

omg yes i want to see it, i love lake footage. i tried doing something similar last summer but my timing was off and by the time i got the bird up the good light was gone lol. do you just eyeball when to go out or do you use an app for golden hour times
