mini 3 pro keeps drifting indoors, is this normal??

  • Members

so ive had my mini 3 pro for about 3 weeks now and im still learning the basics. i was trying to fly it inside my living room just to get comfortable with the controls and the thing just keeps slowly drifting sideways even when im not touching the sticks. like i let go of everything and it just slides to the left gradually. outside it seems fine mostly but inside its really noticeable. is this a calibration thing or is something wrong with it. i did the compass calibration thing when i first set it up but not sure if thats even related. dont want to send it back if this is just how it works indoors

totally normal unfortunately. the mini 3 relies a lot on its downward vision sensors and GPS to hold position and indoors with no GPS signal it basically has to rely on optical flow from those bottom cameras. if your floors are like a solid color or low contrast like plain wood or carpet it really struggles to hold position. good lighting helps a lot. also make sure you're in normal or cine mode not sport mode because sport disables a lot of the positioning stuff. honestly i'd just practice outside until you're more comfortable, indoor hovering with these things is just kinda rough unless conditions are perfect
