DJI O3 vs analog for freestyle ? is the latency thing actually real or placebo

  • Members

so ive been running analog for like 4 years, mostly Fatshark HDO2s with a TBS Unify Pro32 HV and whatever antenna i had lying around, usually a pagoda on the quad and a cloverleaf on the goggles. works great, i know it works, no complaints really.

buddy of mine wont shut up about how he switched to O3 and says he can barely tell a difference in latency during freestyle and the image quality is just insane by comparison. i flew his quad for maybe 10 minutes and yeah the picture is gorgeous but i kept feeling like i was a half step behind myself, could be in my head though since i wasnt used to the quad either.

not really asking whether to switch, more just curious if anyone has done like a real back to back comparison with the same quad same conditions and actually measured it or at least has a strong feeling either way. also does antenna choice even matter on the O3 system or is it basically locked in

the latency is real but honestly its only like 30-40ms on O3 vs sub 20 on a good analog setup and for most freestyle flying your brain adapts pretty quick. i noticed it for maybe two packs and then it

tbh i think a lot of the latency debate is people who learned on analog and just feel weird on anything else. my first system was O3 and i dont have any complaints, latency feels fine to me. maybe im

the latency is real but honestly its only like 30-40ms on O3 vs sub 20 on a good analog setup and for most freestyle flying your brain adapts pretty quick. i noticed it for maybe two packs and then it stopped bothering me. where i really felt it was trying to thread tight gaps at speed, analog just feels more connected in that situation.

on the antenna question ? yeah it does matter on O3, people forget that. the air unit still has coax going to the antenna and swapping to a better linear or even a lollipop makes a difference especially if you're pushing range or flying in a place with a lot of multipath garbage like inside warehouses or around buildings. the stock antenna is fine for casual but its not magic
