so ive been using DJI Fly for everything since i got my Mini 3 Pro last year and it honestly does the job for most stuff but i keep seeing people mention Litchi and i finally downloaded the trial or whatever and im kind of confused about whether its actually better or if its just more complicated for no reason

like the waypoint stuff in Litchi looks way more powerful on paper, you can set individual headings and gimbal angles per waypoint which is cool, but DJI Fly's focus track and stuff just works without me having to think about it. im mostly doing real estate and occasional landscape timelapses so im not sure if the extra control is worth the $23 or whatever it costs now

also does anyone know if Litchi still works properly with the Mini 3 Pro because i saw some posts from like a year ago saying there were issues after a firmware update and i dont want to pay for something that half-works

Litchi is solid for waypoint missions but yeah the Mini 3 Pro compatibility has been hit or miss depending on which firmware version you're on. last i checked it works fine on the current stable firmware but don't go updating to any beta stuff if you rely on it for paid work. the headings per waypoint thing is genuinely useful once you get used to setting up the missions in the browser interface on your laptop, way easier than doing it on the phone

for real estate though honestly DJI Fly is probably fine unless your clients want those really precise repeatable orbit shots where you need exact camera angles. i switched to Litchi for a client who wanted the same flyover every month to show construction progress and that's where it really shines, you just load the same mission file and run it

i asked myself the same thing a few months ago and just bought it to stop wondering lol. for what you're describing with real estate and timelapses i think it depends honestly. the mission hub on desktop is pretty nice for planning stuff before you even go to the site which saves a lot of time standing around in a parking lot poking at your phone

one thing nobody told me ? the waypoint altitude is AGL from the home point not actual terrain following so if you're flying over uneven ground you need to account for that manually or use the terrain follow mode which works okay but isnt perfect. caught me off guard the first time
