litchi vs dronelink for waypoint missions, which one are you guys actually using

  • Members

so ive been using litchi for probably two years now and its fine, does what i need, but ive been hearing more people talk about dronelink lately and im wondering if its actually worth switching or learning a whole new app for basically the same thing

my main use case is doing long linear missions for powerline inspections, so i need reliable waypoint following, terrain following if possible, and something that doesnt randomly disconnect mid mission which litchi has done to me twice now. both times i got the drone back fine but still not a great feeling when youre 800m out over a field

anyone running dronelink on a mini 3 pro or air 3? curious if the terrain following actually works well or if its still kind of janky like it was when i tried it maybe a year ago on a friends account

dronelink has come a long way honestly. i switched from litchi about eight months ago and havent looked back. the terrain following on it is genuinely usable now, i did a hillside survey last month and it tracked pretty well, maybe 2-3m variance at worst which for my purposes was fine. that said litchi is still more intuitive if youre used to it, dronelinks interface takes some getting used to, theres a lot of options and it can feel overwhelming at first

dont know about mini 3 pro specifically, im on an air 2s still, but i havent had any mid-mission disconnects with dronelink yet. knock on wood

just a heads up the disconnects you had with litchi might not actually be litchis fault, could be rc signal or the phone going to sleep and killing the bluetooth or usb connection depending on how youre connected. had the same thing happen to me and turned out my phone was throttling background apps. might be worth ruling that out before switching everything
