so this has been driving me absolutely crazy for the past week. i've got a Ronin-type setup mounted on my X8 and everything looks fine on the ground, horizon is level, pitch is good, all that. but about 3-4 minutes into flight the roll axis starts slowly drifting ? like maybe 2-3 degrees over the course of a minute which sounds small but completely ruins any footage im trying to capture for client work.

ive recalibrated probably six times now. tried doing it indoors, tried doing it outside away from anything magnetic. the IMU calibration on the drone itself looks fine. i dont think its a motor issue because if i manually correct it in the app it snaps right back and holds for a bit then drifts again. feels like a thermal thing maybe? the motor gets warm but not hot. or maybe the ribbon cable is slightly loose? honestly at this point im just guessing

had almost the exact same issue last spring, turned out my gimbal IMU was getting heat soak from the ESC stack sitting too close underneath. the gyro inside starts reading slightly off once it warms up past a certain point and the stabilization algo just slowly loses its reference. try putting some kapton tape or a small thermal pad between the gimbal plate and whatever's underneath it. also worth checking if the drift direction is consistent ? if it always rolls the same way thats usually a calibration offset that got baked in wrong, if it changes direction randomly then yeah could be the cable or even a failing gyro chip.

not sure if this is related but i had drift issues and it ended up being that i had auto-horizon leveling fighting with the gimbal. they were basically both trying to correct at the same time and creating this slow oscillation. worth checking if you have any flight controller stabilization mode that might overlap with what the gimbal is doing
