yeah so that was fun. flying back from thailand and apparently you cant have lipo batteries in checked luggage which i knew, but what i didnt know was that the airport security at suvarnabhumi apparently has a thing about drones in carry on too, like they pulled me aside and were asking all these questions and eventually just said i couldnt take it on the plane at all. which makes zero sense because ive flown with it carry on like 6 times before with no issues

ended up having to ship it home which cost me almost as much as the drone itself. idk if it was just a power trip from that one guy or if theres an actual rule i missed. anyone dealt with this

Thailand has been getting weirder about drones for a couple years now. i think its less about the airport and more that individual security staff just do whatever they want and theres not a lot of recourse. sorry that happend to you, shipping it back is a nightmare, had a friend do the same thing in vietnam

always carry a printed copy of the airline's battery policy plus the IATA lithium battery guidelines, sounds annoying but it actually works sometimes when you can put a piece of paper in front of someone and go "see, its allowed." doesnt always work but its better than having nothing. also some airports in SE asia just flat out dont want drones regardless of what the rules say, ive noticed it more in the last year or two
