been flying my mini 3 for like 6 months now and i think yesterday was the first time i actually got footage i was genuinely happy with. went out to this reservoir about 20 mins from my house, wasnt even planning to shoot anything serious just wanted to get some stick time in but the light was insane around 7:30pm so i just started rolling.

ended up with maybe 4 minutes of usable stuff ? mostly slow orbits around this little island in the middle, a couple push-ins toward the treeline. color graded it a bit in resolve but honestly barely touched it, the d-log m was already looking pretty nice straight out of the camera.

anyone else find that reservoir/water shots just make everything look way better than it actually is lol. link to the clip is in my profile if anyone wants to take a look, would love some honest feedback on the movement and composition not just "looks great" type stuff

yeah water is basically a cheat code for drone footage, the reflections do like 80% of the work for you. watched your clip ? honestly the orbits were smooth but i think you held a couple of them a bit too long, like the third one especially. sometimes less is more with orbits ya know, people lose interest fast. the push-ins toward the treeline were the best part imo, that last one where the camera tilts up slightly to catch the sky was really nice timing whether that was intentional or not

this is making me want to go find a reservoir near me lol. im still pretty new and my footage is terrible so maybe water would help me too. what settings were you using, like were you in manual or just auto everything?
