is there a drone thats actually good for beginners or is it just marketing

every drone i look at says its beginner friendly on the box or in the description but then you read the reviews and people are crashing them constantly and complaining about the app not working and whatever else. starting to feel like beginner friendly is just something they slap on there to sell more units.

like is there actually a meaningful difference between something thats genuinely easier to fly versus just a cheaper drone they decided to market that way. asking because im trying to figure out if i should spend more upfront or just grab something cheap to start and expect to trash it

yeah its partially marketing but not entirely. the GPS stabilization stuff on something like a DJI or even a decent Holy Stone is genuinely different from flying something without position hold. when theres no GPS the thing just drifts and youre constantly making corrections and for a new pilot that gets overwhelming fast. the crash rate goes way up. so i'd say yes there is a real difference, but the term beginner friendly gets abused for sure

tbh i think the bigger variable is the pilot not the drone. ive seen people trash a Mini 4 Pro in their third flight and ive seen people fly a $60 Syma for months without a scratch. that said i do think starting with something that has altitude hold and decent wind resistance makes the learning curve less miserable. just dont expect any drone to save you from yourself completely, you still gotta put in the time in the sim or just accept youre gonna bump into stuff a few times
