firmware update bricked my air 2s or something, wont connect to RC now

ok so this is frustrating. did the firmware update last night that DJI pushed, the one from like two days ago, and now my air 2s just wont pair with my RC-N1 controller. the drone powers on fine, lights do the normal sequence, but the controller just sits there flashing and never connects. tried restarting both about 15 times, did the button hold thing to re-link, nothing.

whats weird is the DJI fly app on my phone sees the drone over wifi fine so the drone itself isnt dead or whatever, its just the RC link that seems broken. checked the controller firmware and it says its up to date but im wondering if maybe the controller needs a separate update that didnt push automatically or something got corrupted during the process.

anyone seen this after a recent update? kinda need this working by thursday

yeah this happened to me with my mini 3 after an update a while back, different aircraft but same kind of symptom. what fixed it for me was connecting the controller directly to my laptop via USB and forcing the firmware refresh through DJI Assistant 2 rather than letting the app do it over the air. sometimes the OTA update for the controller just half-installs and leaves it in a weird state. definitely try that before you do anything drastic

the RC-N1 has had pairing issues after updates before, its kind of a known thing at this point. the re-linking procedure in the manual is also honestly kind of vague about the exact button timing. what worked for me when i had a similar thing was holding the link button on the drone for like 4 seconds until you hear the second beep, not the first one, most people let go too early. also make sure both are fully charged before you try, low battery on the controller can apparently mess with the pairing handshake for some reason
