anyone actually use ND filters regularly or is it more of a sometimes thing

so i picked up a set of ND filters for my air 2s back when i got it, came in a little pack with like ND4 ND8 ND16 and ND64 i think. used the ND16 a couple times when it was really bright out and the footage did look smoother but honestly i keep forgetting to put them on or i'm in a hurry and just fly without them. wondering if people who shoot video seriously are swapping filters like every flight depending on conditions or if theres like a go-to one that works most of the time so i stop overthinking it.

also side question ? do you store them in anything specific? mine are just loose in a little plastic case and i already scratched one which was annoying

yeah the 180 degree shutter rule is real and once you actually see the difference between footage shot with and without proper ND it's hard to go back. that said i'm not obsessive about it ? for a quick shot or if the light is already pretty flat and overcast i'll sometimes skip it. but for golden hour stuff or midday sun the ND64 or even stacking filters makes a massive difference in how organic the motion looks.

for storage i use a think tank filter holder thing that velcros into my bag, keeps them from rattling around and scratching each other. your plastic case should work fine as long as theyre not just rolling loose inside it, maybe stick some small foam pieces between them

honestly i barely use mine and probably should more. i got a cheap set off amazon and the glass quality wasnt great so i kind of gave up on them but i think thats a me problem not a filter problem. been thinking about getting the polar pro ones since i keep hearing good things but havent pulled the trigger yet. what brand did you get with yours?
