so ive been dealing with this for about three weeks now and its starting to drive me crazy. im flying a mini 3 pro, using the RC-N1 controller, and somewhere between 200-400m out it just drops. not every time, sometimes it'll go to 800m no problem, but other times it cuts at like 250m and i get that gray screen for a few seconds before it reconnects. never actually lost the drone but its nerve wracking.

ive tried switching from 2.4ghz to 5.8ghz and back, doesnt seem to make a difference. flying in a semi-rural area, not super dense with wifi but there's a neighborhood maybe half a km away. checked the antenna orientation on the controller, they're vertical when the drone is at that distance so shouldnt be an issue. updated firmware last week thinking that might fix it but same thing.

anyone dealt with something like this? wondering if its a hardware issue with the controller or if theres something environmental im missing.

had almost the exact same thing happen with my air 2s last summer. turned out there was a cell tower they'd activated like two months prior about 800m from my usual spot. 2.4ghz was getting absolutely hammered. switched to 5.8 and the range dropped but at least it was stable. you might want to grab a wifi analyzer app and walk around your flying area, see whats actually in the spectrum before you go blaming the hardware. the RC-N1 antennas are pretty mediocre anyway but they shouldnt be cutting out at 250m unless something is actively interfering.

also worth checking if it happens at the same physical location each time or if it follows the drone's position in the sky. if its always around the same compass heading thats a big clue.

does it happen on your phone screen or is the controller itself showing the disconnect? asking because i had a usb cable issue once where the phone was losing connection to the controller but the drone link was actually fine the whole time. looked like a signal drop but was just a bad cable. probably not your issue but worth ruling out quick.
