my quad just feels sluggish doing splits and rolls, tune issue?

so ive been trying to nail snap rolls and split S maneuvers and my 5inch just feels like its fighting me the whole time. like theres this weird mushiness when i flip and it doesnt snap back crisp at all. running stock betaflight rates which was probably dumb of me to not change from the start

been flying for about 8 months mostly just cruising and some light freestyle but im trying to actually get into proper tricks now and the tune feels all wrong. not sure if its my rates that are the issue or if i need to mess with the PIDs. dont really want to break anything messing around blindly

rates are almost definitely your problem if youre on stock. stock rates are way too slow for proper freestyle snaps, you want something with way more expo and higher max rate so the stick input actually translates to something aggressive. look up Josh Bardwell's rate calculator or just steal someones freestyle rates off the betaflight presets and go from there. PIDs might need touching too but honestly fix the rates first and see how it feels
