my Mavic 3 keeps losing signal way sooner than it should, somethings off

this has been bugging me for a while and i cant figure out if its a me problem or a drone problem. im getting signal warnings and the RTH kicking in at distances that feel way too short ? like sometimes under 800m in a pretty open area. not flying near cell towers or anything obvious like that as far as i can tell.

the RC Pro controller shows full bars when im standing there and then it just drops out fast as i push further out. updated firmware before anyone asks, did that last month. it doesnt happen every single flight which is the annoying part, some days its totally fine and ill go out 3-4km no issues. other days its frustrating before i even get to 1km.

anyone dealt with something like this or have a idea what to even start checking

inconsistent signal issues like that are tricky because theres actually a bunch of things that can cause it. first thing id check is whether youre getting interference from your own body ? the way you hold the controller matters more than people think with O3+, if the antennas are pointed wrong relative to the drone youll get weird dropouts. the RC Pro antennas should be fanned out and facing the drone, not pointing up at the sky.

also worth checking if there are any apps running in the background on the controller pulling on the wifi radio. ive seen people have interference issues that turned out to be really mundane stuff like that. if the issue is truly intermittent and location-dependent it could just be RF environment stuff you cant control ? certain days certain areas just have more noise on the 2.4 and 5.8 bands.

had something simmilar with mine a while back and it turned out one of the controller antennas had a slightly loose connection inside ? not visible from outside at all. sent it in and DJI found it pretty quick. if yours is still under warranty might be worth just opening a support ticket and describing exactly what you told us here, the intermittent part is actually useful info for them.
