yeah so this happened. flew out to the azores specifically because the landscapes are insane and ive been wanting to shoot there for two years. got some okay footage on day one around sete cidades lake, conditions were perfect. day two i was at this clifftop near mosteiros and just completely misjudged the wind coming off the ocean. it looked calm from where i was standing but there was this crazy gust and the mavic just went sideways and dropped into the water below before i could do anything. watched it disappear. dji care refresh back home, not activated for travel. so yeah. rest of the trip was still amazing but im still kind of sick about it honestly

oof that hurts. coastal flying is so deceptive, the wind readings on the drone itself are almost useless when you have gusts bouncing off cliff faces like that. i always try to hover low and still for like 30 seconds before i actually start a session now just to get a feel for what the air is actually doing. doesnt always help but its caught a couple sketchy situatoins before i committed. hope you managed to enjoy the rest of it at least

this is my nightmare scenario. do you think DJI care refresh would have even covered that, like water damage from ocean? i thought there were exclusions. asking because im about to go to norway and have been going back and forth on whether to get the refresh activated before i leave
