got a LAANC authorization but the app is saying i cant fly there still??

ok so im pretty confused here. i went through aloft and got my LAANC authorization for a spot near a small regional airport, it said approved up to 100ft and i have the confirmation and everything. but when i go to fly and i check again on the app it has the whole area marked red still and wont let me do anything. is the authorization supposed to clear the red zone visually or does it just mean i have legal permission but the map still looks the same? ive been going back and forth on this for like two days and i dont wanna get in trouble but i also have a job that depends on me getting this shot done

yeah the map doesnt change, thats not how it works. the red or orange shading is just telling you what CLASS the airspace is, not whether youre allowed to fly. the LAANC approval is basically your permission slip but the map stays the same regardless. so you should be fine to fly as long as you stay under the altitude they approved and within the grid square you applied for. keep the authorization on your phone just in case someone questions you.

this tripped me up too when i first started. i thought i was doing something wrong because the zone was still red after i got approved lol. one thing i'd add is double check which app youre using to actually fly because some of them like DJI fly have their own geo-fencing that doesn't talk to LAANC at all, so even with authorization the drone itself might refuse to arm. you might have to unlock it separately through DJIs own system which is annoying but thats just how it is with their stuff
