yeah so i failed it this morning. scored a 68 which i know is below the 70 cutoff. im pretty frustrated because i thought i was ready, i was hitting like 80-85% consistently on practice tests for the past couple weeks. the actual test just felt completely different from anything i practiced, some of the questions were worded so weirdly that i wasnt even sure what they were asking half the time.

theres a 14 day waiting period before i can retake it right? does anyone know if the second test is going to be the same question pool or do they mix it up. and honestly what do i do differently between now and then because i dont want to just do the same thing again and get the same result

yeah 14 days is correct, you cannot take it again before that window closes. and from my understanding they pull from a pretty large question bank so you'll definitely see different questions, some overlap is probably inevitable but dont count on seeing the same ones.

honestly a 68 when you were hitting 80s on practice tests is interesting, sounds less like a knowledge problem and more like a test-taking issue? like maybe slow down on the questions you're uncertain about and flag them for review instead of just picking something and moving on. also the wording thing is real, the FAA writes these questions in kind of a weird formal way and sometimes you have to parse what theyre actually asking pretty carefully. if you can get the ASA test prep book that has some good explanations that are a bit different from prepware and might help things click differently

oof sorry man. i actually made a similar mistake before my test where i was practicing on questions from like 3rd party sites that had slightly outdated material, some of the airspace rules they were testing me on had changed and prepware hadnt caught up yet at the time. worth double checking that whatever youre using is current with the latest FAA knowledge test supplement. the official supplement document is free on the FAA website and thats literally the chart data theyll use in the actual exam so if your practice tests are using different charts thats probably part of it
