DJI's new rules kicking in next month ? anyone actually ready for this

so i've been seeing a bunch of stuff about the remote ID enforcement ramping up and honestly i'm not sure how prepared most people are. i fly mostly out in rural areas so part of me feels like it won't really affect me day to day but then again i don't want to be the guy who gets fined because i didn't bother to update my firmware or register properly.

also heard something about DJI pushing out a mandatory update that ties into the remote ID broadcast stuff? my mini 3 hasnt prompted me to update yet but a few people in my local club said theirs did. anyone know if thats rolling out in waves or if i need to manually check. genuinely not trying to get caught out on this one

yeah the remote ID thing has been coming for a while, honestly i think most casual flyers have no idea it's even a thing. i updated my air 2s back in december and it was pretty painless, just went through the DJI fly app and it walked me through it. the broadcast module situation is kind of annoying if you have older gear though ? my buddy has a phantom 4 and he's basically looking at buying an add-on module which isnt cheap.

rural areas might feel low risk but the FAA has been doing spot checks at events and popular spots so i wouldnt totally ignore it. better to just get it sorted and not think about it again honestly.

wait so does this affect people who just fly in their backyard too? i just got a mini 2 like two months ago and i thought under 250g meant you were mostly exempt from all the registration stuff. now im reading this thread and im second guessing everything lol
