so i got a cheap starter drone from amazon, not gonna say which one but its one of those under $100 ones. anyway when i hover it just slowly drifts off to the side or forward and i have to keep correcting it. is this normal for cheap drones or am i doing something wrong. i calibrated it i think, there was something in the app about compass calibration and i did that

also im flying indoors which maybe is the issue? idk it just wont stay put and its really annoying when im trying to practice

indoor flying without gps is gonna do that, thats pretty much just physics at that price range. budget drones especially under like $150 usually dont have optical flow sensors which is what lets them hold position without gps. outside it'll probably be better but even then dont expect it to just sit perfectly still, wind exists. you kind of just have to get used to making constant small corrections, thats actually good stick practice tbh

compass calibration doesnt really help with drift that much, thats more for heading accuracy. what you probably want is to calibrate the IMU if the app lets you, and also make sure youre doing it on a perfectly flat surface. but honestly if its a really cheap drone some drift is just... what it is. i had one of those and eventually just accepted it was a twitchy little thing and learned to work with it. when i moved up to something with gps it felt like cheating lol
