EVO II pro keeps losing connection mid flight, driving me crazy

  • Members

so this has been bugging me for a while and im not sure if its a settings thing or something else. flying my EVO II pro and probably 3 or 4 times now ive had it just drop the video feed and go into like a hover, then it reconnects after 10-15 seconds. doesnt crash or fly away or anything but its really unsettling especially when im over water.

im not flying that far out, maybe 300-400 meters max. other drones in the area shouldnt be a problem where i usually go. i updated the firmware a few weeks ago and honestly i think it might have started around then but i cant say for sure. controller batteries are always topped up before i go out.

anyone dealt with this? is there a channel setting or something im missing in the app

check if the app is set to auto channel selection or if its locked onto something congested. i had werid disconnects with mine a while back and switching the video transmission channel manually fixed it almost completely. also worth checking if there's any interference near your launch point ? power lines, cell towers etc. 300-400 meters shouldnt be pushing it at all on the EVO II so its probably not a range thing.

also and i know this sounds dumb but make sure the antennas on the controller are oriented correctly relative to the drone. flat face of the antenna should be pointing toward the bird not the edge. made a bigger difference than i thought when i actually paid attention to it.

ive heard a couple people say the firmware update from a few months back introduced some stability issues with the video link, think there was some chatter about it on the autel subreddit too. might be worth rolling back if you can or waiting for the next patch. autel support is actually pretty responsive in my experience if you want to just contact them directly, they got back to me within a day when i had a gimbal issue
