Mavic Mini 4 Pro ? worth upgrading from Mini 3 Pro or not really

  • Members

been going back and forth on this for like two months. i have the Mini 3 Pro and its been genuinely great, no complaints. but i keep seeing the Mini 4 Pro come up and the obstacle avoidance on all four sides is tempting because ive had a couple close calls flying in woodland.

problem is i cant really justify the cost to myself unless theres something that actually changes how i fly day to day. the camera difference looks pretty minimal to me from the sample footage ive seen? like its better but not life changing. maybe im wrong.

does anyone who has actually made this jump feel like it was worth it or did it end up sitting in the bag feeling basically the same as before. my Mini 3 batteries wont work with it either which is another thing annnoying me about the whole decision

i went from Mini 3 Pro to Mini 4 Pro about 4 months ago and honestly... it depends what you fly. if youre mostly doing open landscape and aerial stuff the difference day to day is pretty small yeah. the image is a tiny bit cleaner in low light but nothing dramatic. the omnidirectional obstacle sensing though, that has actually saved me twice already flying through trees. so if woodland and tighter spaces is your thing it kind of pays for itself in not crashing. the battery thing is annoying though i wont lie, had to basically start fresh which stung a bit.

tbh if your Mini 3 Pro is working fine i wouldnt bother. the upgrade cycle on these things is getting pretty incremental and DJI knows people will buy anyway. save the money and put it toward more flying time or a decent ND filter set, youll get more out of it. just my two cents but i see so many people upgrade and then wonder why their footage doesnt look that different
