EVO Nano vs Nano+ for someone just starting out ? is the plus actually worth it

  • Members

been lurking here for a while trying to decide on my first real drone. im not looking to spend a ton of money and the Nano series caught my eye since its in my budget range. the price difference between the regular Nano and the Nano+ isnt huge but when youre just starting out every bit counts you know.

from what i can tell the main difference is the sensor, the Plus has a larger one with a wider aperture. but i genuinely dont know if that matters for a beginner who's mostly going to be flying around parks and maybe some light travel stuff. i dont even know if i'll stick with this hobby honestly, that's the truth. so is the better camera on the Plus going to be wasted on someone like me or is it one of those things where you really notice it even as a beginner

honestly if you're not sure you'll stick with it i'd almost say just get the regular Nano and see how it goes. the footage from both is pretty good for casual flying and you're not going to be doing professional work starting out anyway. save the extra money and put it toward a decent bag or maybe a spare battery, those are the things that actually make your flying experience better day to day when you're learning.

i went with the Nano+ and dont regret it but i will say the low light difference is real and noticeable. if you ever fly in the evening or in shaded areas the wider aperture on the Plus just gives you cleaner footage, less noise. thats the main thing. that said the person above has a point ? a spare battery is honestly more impactful for a new pilot than a slightly better sensor. you'll go through your first battery faster than you think just because everything is new and exciting and suddenly its gone and youre done for the day lol
