so ive had my Air 3 for about 4 months now and overall love it but i keep second guessing myself when it gets windy. like today it was probably 18-20mph gusts and i just left it in the bag because i wasnt sure. i know the specs say it can handle up to like 27mph wind speed but thats the drone moving through air not gusts right? or is it the same thing

anyway i guess my question is does anyone actually fly in those conditions regularly and how does the footage come out. im mostly doing landscape stuff so i need it to be smooth and not a jittery mess. my friend said he flies his Mini 4 in similar wind and it struggles so i assumed the Air 3 would be better but idk

yeah 18-20mph is honestly fine for the Air 3 in my experience. the rated wind resistance is sustained wind not gusts technically but i've flown mine in 22-23mph sustained with gusts hitting higher and it held position really well. the footage was totally usable, maybe slight jello effect in extreme gusts but nothing the stabilization couldnt handle for the most part.

the Mini 4 comparison is fair ? the Air 3 is noticeably more stable in wind just because of the weight difference. heavier drone = less pushed around. what i usually do is watch the attitude indicator in the app and if the drone is constantly fighting to hold position and burning through battery way faster than normal, thats when i land. battery drain is actually a decent real world indicator that conditions are rough.

I was nervous about this too when I first got mine. Took it out in probably similar conditions a few weeks ago just to see and honestly it was fine. The gimbal was working harder than usual you could kind of tell from the footage if you looked closely but nothing crazy. I'd say just go for it, worst case you land early and try another day.
