so ive been flying my mini 3 pro for a few months now and i keep landing in grass and gravel and honestly im surprised i havent sucked anything into the motors yet. started looking at landing pads and theres like a million options on amazon ranging from 8 bucks to 40+ and i genuinely cant tell if theres a real difference or if the expensive ones are just branding.

my main spots are a local park with uneven grass and sometimes a gravel parking lot near a reservoir. mostly looking for something that rolls up easy and fits in my bag. does the reflective surface thing actually matter or is that just a gimmick

honestly the cheap ones are fine for most people. i had a Hoodman one for a while and then grabbed a random 12 dollar one off amazon and i really couldnt tell much difference in day to day use. the reflective surface does help in low light if your drone has downward sensors because it gives them something to lock onto, but in a normal sunlit park its not really doing anything special.

the one thing i would pay attention to is the carrying bag situation ? some of the really cheap ones come with this terrible little pouch that falls apart after like three outings. if you can find one that has decent velcro straps to roll it up and maybe a halfway decent bag thats probably worth paying a little more for. the pad itself is just nylon at the end of the day.

The gravel thing is real though, definitely worth having one, i had a tiny pebble rattle around inside a motor once and it was not a fun afternoon trying to figure out what that noise was lol
