honestly surprised by how much i prefer the avata 2 over the regular fpv drone after switching

so this isnt really a question more just wanted to share because i feel like the avata 2 doesnt get enough credit in discussions where people are comparing it to the original DJI FPV drone. i flew the original FPV drone for about a year and a half and i thought it was great, told everyone to get it, whole thing. then i tried my buddys avata 2 at a field day last month and i was genuinely kind of humbled.

the avata 2 is just so much more nimble in tight spaces. the original FPV drone always felt like it needed a bit of room to breathe, which makes sense given the size, but the avata 2 can thread gaps that i wouldnt have even attempted before. and the image quality jump is noticeable, i had gotten so used to the original that i forgot what sharper footage looked like i guess. the goggles 3 integration is also just smoother, the latency feels lower even though i dont have hard numbers on that.

only thing i miss is the raw speed of the original in manual mode going full send in open areas, the avata 2 in manual is fast but its a different feeling. anyway if anyones on the fence between them and doesnt need the absolute top end velocity the avata 2 is where id point people now. changed my mind completely

yeah the avata 2 kind of snuck up on everyone i think. when it first came out people were complaining about the price bump but the actual flying experience addressed most of the complaints people had with the first one. the motion controller situation is also better, i know some people still prefer a traditional stick controller for fpv but for the more cinematic flowy style stuff the motion controller on the avata 2 just works. curious how you find the battery life comparing the two? that was always my one gripe with the original

tbh i always thought the original DJI FPV drone was kind of a weird middle ground product ? not quite a proper freestyle quad, not quite a normal drone. never pulled the trigger on it. the avata line makes more sense to me as a concept, its not pretending to be something its not. might actually be my entry into fpv if i ever stop being intimidated by the whole thing. been watching videos for months and still havent bought anything lol
