ok so ive been going back and forth on this for like two weeks now and i cant make up my mind. i currently have a Mini 2 SE which i got as my first drone and honestly love it, but im starting to feel like i want something with better image quality and maybe obstacle avoidance because i had a close call near some trees last month that aged me about 10 years.

so the Mini 3 Pro feels like the obvious next step but then i keep looking at the Air 3 and thinking... the dual cameras and the longer flight time seem genuinely useful? but its a lot more money especially if you want the RC 2 controller bundle. i mostly just fly on weekends, trails, some beach stuff, occasionally a sunset over the reservoir near my house. nothing commercial, not doing any paid work. does the Air 3 make sense for a casual person or is that overkill and i should just grab the Mini 3 Pro and be happy

honestly had the exact same debate last spring. ended up going with the Air 3 and dont regret it at all but i'll be real with you - if youre not doing video work professionally the Mini 3 Pro is probably the smarter buy. the image quality is genuinely excellent on both, like you'd be hard pressed to tell them apart on a phone screen or even a decent monitor unless you're pixel peeping.

where the Air 3 wins for me is the medium tele lens, i use it way more than i expected for shots where i want some compression without having to fly right up to something. and the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance vs the Mini 3 Pro's more limited sensors is a real difference if you're flying in tighter spaces. but for trails and beach flying? the Mini 3 Pro is gonna do everything you need and you keep like $400 in your pocket.

I just got the Mini 3 Pro a few months ago coming from nothing and it's been great for weekend stuff. the vertical shooting mode is actually really handy if you ever post to instagram or reels, didn't think id use it but i do. only thing i'll say is get the RC-N1 controller version first and see how you get on before spending extra on the RC 2 screen, the phone mount works fine in most conditions
