my quad just feels dead after retuning and i dont know what i broke

so anyway i finally got brave and started messing with PIDs properly instead of just running defaults and now the thing flies like a wet blanket. before it was a little propwashy on quick direction changes but it felt alive. now its just... smooth in a bad way? like inputs feel delayed and rolls dont snap the way they used to

i was following one of those blackbox tuning guides and i brought D term up to try to kill the wash and i think i also touched the master multiplier at some point. running RPM filter with bidirectional dshot. betaflight 4.4

i saved my old profile but when i loaded it back the problem is still there which is really confusing me. could something have carried over? not sure what else changed honestly

check your rates. seriously, this happens to people all the time ? they go deep into PID tuning and somewhere along the way the expo or rate profile gets touched and suddenly the stick feel is completely different even if the PIDs are fine. if you loaded the old PID profile but not the rates you might be flying the old PIDs with weird new rates which would definitely feel mushy and slow

also if you cranked D up a lot and your motors are running hot thats another thing to check. too much D can actually make the quad feel damped and unresponsive especially through the filters because everything gets smoothed to death. pull up a quick blackbox log from a recent flight and just look at the P and D traces on roll, if D is massive compared to P thats probably your culprit

had something similar happen and it turned out i had accidentally enabled a dynamic idle setting that was interfering with how the motors spun up. wouldnt have found it except a friend was watching me fly and said it looked like the motors were hesitating. might not be your issue but worth a look in the motor tab. also the profile reload thing ? betaflight doesnt always reload filter settings cleanly in my experience, ive had to manually re-enter values even after loading a diff profile
