Litchi vs DJI Fly for waypoint missions ? is it even worth the hassle anymore

  • Members

so ive been using Litchi for probably two years now on my Mini 3 Pro and honestly the waypoint stuff is great but im starting to wonder if its worth keeping the subscription going. DJI Fly has gotten way better with the quick shots and stuff but the actual mission planning is still kind of garbage compared to Litchi if you ask me. like i tried to set up a simple orbit with a custom altitude change midway through and DJI Fly just... doesnt do that. or at least i couldnt figure out how

anyway the main thing bugging me is that after the last firmware update (the one that dropped like 3 weeks ago) my Litchi missions keep throwing a "signal lost" warning even when the controller is clearly connected. its not actually losing signal, the drone just kind of pauses and then resumes but it breaks the whole smooth flight thing i was going for. anyone else seeing this or is it something in my settings

yeah the firmware thing is a known issue, theres a thread on the Litchi Facebook group about it. basically something in the new DJI firmware changed how the RC-N1 handles telemetry during autonomous flight and Litchi hasnt patched it yet. someone said the Litchi devs are aware but no ETA. workaround for now is to roll back the firmware if you saved the bin file, otherwise youre kind of stuck waiting

as for Litchi vs DJI Fly, honestly no contest for serious mission work. DJI Fly is fine if youre just doing manual stuff or the canned quick shots but waypoint planning with proper POI targeting and curved turns? Litchi still wins by a mile. i do real estate and construction and i cant imagine giving that up just to save like 30 bucks a year

not sure about the signal warning thing but i switched from Litchi to FlightHub 2 for my M30 and honestly its a completely different world, though that's enterprise tier so probably not helpful for Mini 3 use case. just throwing it out there that there are other options depending on what you actually need the missions for
