honest thoughts on the DJI Mini 4 Pro after 3 months ? worth it over the mini 3?

so ive had the mini 4 pro since around october and figured id share some actual real world thoughts since most reviews i found before buying were either paid sponsors or just spec comparisons that dont tell you anything useful

the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance is genuinely good, way better than i expected for a sub-250g drone. had a close call with some tree branches last month and it just kind of... stopped and hovered. my mini 3 would have been a pile of carbon fiber at that point. so that alone has already been worth it for me personally

battery life is roughly what DJI claims if you're not fighting wind, i usually get around 28-30 minutes in calm conditions which is fine. the 4K/60fps footage is really clean too, noticably sharper than what i was getting before

BUT ? and this is the thing nobody really talks about ? if you already have a mini 3 pro the upgrade is honestly hard to justify unless you're flying in tight spaces or you just really want that 60fps. the image quality difference day to day isn't huge. i kind of wish id waited and saved the money toward an air 3 instead if im being real about it

anyway if anyones on the fence and coming from something older than the mini 3 series, yeah its a great buy. coming from a mini 3 pro specifically... think hard about it first

this is really helpful actually, been going back and forth on this exact decision for like two weeks. im coming from a mavic mini 1 so i guess the jump would be bigger for me. the obstacle avoidance thing is what keeps pulling me toward the mini 4 because i fly in some pretty wooded areas near my house and ive already clipped branches twice and gotten lucky both times

one thing i cant find a straight answer on anywhere ? does the ActiveTrack on the mini 4 actually work well or is it still kind of janky like it was on older models? ive seen some videos where it looks great and others where it totally loses the subject

pretty fair writeup tbh. i went air 3 route last year and dont regret it but its a different category really so not quite apples to apples. the mini 4 sits in a weird spot in the lineup where its really really good but the mini 3 pro was already really really good so a lot of people upgrading from that are gonna feel what you're describing

the 60fps thing matters more than people think once you start doing any kind of sport or action shots though, slow motion in post is just so much more useable. might be worth weighing that depending on what you actually shoot
