honest thoughts on the mini 4 pro after 6 months ? worth it or nah

so ive had the mini 4 pro since last spring and figured id write up something actually honest since most reviews i saw before buying were either sponsored or just unboxing videos with zero real world use

the good stuff first ? obstacle avoidance is genuinely useful, not just a gimmick like i assumed it would be. i fly around trees a lot and it has saved me probably twice already from being an idiot. the image quality is really solid for the price, especially in good light. raw files have decent dynamic range and i stopped bringing my bigger drone on trips where i just want to travel light

the bad stuff though ? battery life is not as long as advertised, at least not in any wind. i get maybe 28-30 minutes on a calm day which is fine but dji says 34 and i have never seen that. also the RC2 controller that comes with it runs warm and one of my mates had his brick after a firmware update, dji replaced it but still

would i buy it again? yeah probably. but if you already have a mini 3 pro i honestly dont think its a massive enough jump to justify it unless you specifically want the omnidirectional obstacle sensing or the vertical shooting mode which i use more than i expected

anyway curious if anyone else has similar experience or if im just unlucky with the battery thing

battery thing is real, I've seen the same numbers on mine. I think the 34 minute figure is like, no wind, 50% speed, probably at sea level or something. real world its always less. not a dealbreaker for me but yeah the advertising is a bit optimistic

the RC2 heating up is something i noticed too but never had it cause actual problems, just feels weird in summer when its already hot out. overall though im with you, solid drone and i dont regret it

this is really helpful actually because im trying to decide between this and just getting a refurbished mini 3 pro to save some money. my main thing is im just starting out and dont want to spend a ton on something i might crash. do you think the obstacle avoidance makes it more beginner friendly enough to justify the price difference or is it still pretty easy to bin even with it on
