okay so this has been bugging me for a while and im not sure if its a me problem or a quad problem. picked up the meteor65 pro maybe 6 weeks ago, the brushless version obviously, and it flies but something just doesnt feel right. hard to describe but its like the quad is always slightly behind what im asking it to do, kind of mushy response especially when i flick the sticks quick.

im on a radiomaster pocket with ELRS, 1000hz packet rate, all that should be fine. the betaflight version it came with i havent touched because i didnt want to mess anything up before i figured out whats wrong first. battery is usually a 300mah 1s or sometimes 2s depending which ones charged, and i fly mostly indoors.

tried watching some tuning videos but they all assume you already know what youre looking for in the blackbox and i cant really read those graphs well enough yet to know if what im seeing is normal or not. anyone had this with a meteor or similar prebuilt and fixed it without going completely down the rabbit hole

the default filtering on basically every prebuilt is tuned way too conservatively, manufacturers do it so the thing doesnt smoke itself if someone puts the wrong props on or whatever. that mushiness you're describing is almost certainly too much filtering delaying your gyro response. in betaflight go to the filtering tab and look at your RPM filter settings and also check if dynamic notch is set to high or medium - dropping it to low and reducing some of the lowpass filter cutoffs usually wakes these little guys up a lot.

also check whats your dterm and pterm in the pid tab, the betaflight defaults on a lot of these small prebuilts are not great. theres a guy on youtube called UAV Tech who has meteor65 specific betaflight settings that are a solid starting point, i used his numbers as a base when i got mine and it flew way better immediately. dont be scared of blackbox, you dont need to understand everything just look for the gyro vs pid error overlay and you can kinda see if its tracking or not even without fully reading the graphs

are you sure its not just the 1s batteries being tired? 300mah cells sag like crazy once they have a bunch of cycles on them and it can absolutely make a quad feel sluggish and unresponsive in a way that feels like a tune issue but isnt. try a brand new cell and see if it changes anything before you go touching pids
